Spring, 1904 Helen and Anne buy a home on seven acres of land in Wrentham, Massachusetts. June 28, 1904 Helen becomes the first deaf-blind individual to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating cum laude from Radcliffe. John Albert Macy, circa 1900 John Macy helped Helen with her autobiography, Helen Keller: The Story of My Life, while she was a junior at Radcliffe. He worked for the Ladies Home Journal, and the first section of the book was printed as five articles in five months in that magazine. He also helped Helen negotiate with the book publishing companies. Doubleday published the book, and the book eventually became a bestseller. Macy married Anne Sullivan in 1905, two years after Helen wrote her autobiography. In 1907, he wrote his first book, Edgar Allen Poe. |
